Treasure Hunt

Every village I visit , every street I walk down, every hidden corner I stumble upon ,
there is an artisan hard at work,
proudly carrying forward his family's legacy,
mastering craftsmanship,
humbly creating exquisite works of art,
taking inspiration from the old , blending it with the new,
painstakingly working to keep the tradition alive , hoping that some day his son would do the same.

Along with their craft , the Artisans- the last of their generation are undergoing an important transition in their lives . Cheaper factory made products have captured the imagination of the locals for whom these artisans have been making products for centuries. This is making them abandon their traditional occupation or their traditional designs and move with the times to survive.
A few out of them are still struggling to strike a balance and maintain their integrity as artisans without submitting themselves totally to the onslaught of commercialism. The spirit of the artist within the artisan still remains as they experiment with the old forms and innovate but never forgetting the core of their tradition
